The fundamental principle of Elemental is that abstract concepts are best learnt through examples. Elemental has thousands of musical examples to ensure that every concept, from the sound of a French horn to the feel of 6/8, can be heard in a wide range of different pieces of music.

Elemental contains written explanations and scores to aid understanding, but the heart of this understanding is sound and quizzes within Elemental use examples and non-examples to help students build and then test their knowledge of musical concepts.
