The detailed insights from Elemental's data have been a game changer for understanding how to target support for our students.
James
We have found the pairing of clear explanation with immediate musical examples to be invaluable in helping students develop their aural awareness.
Jo

We use the OCR Exam Board which allows us to see how our pupils performed on each question compared to the national average. This year, across the board, our pupils did better than the national average. We are lucky to work in a music specialist school which means our pupils are very capable, but comparing our results from previous years clearly demonstrates that the addition of Elemental has had a positive effect on our results.

It's one of the main reasons I got an A, and everyone else should have access to it, because it's a life saver and by far the most helpful tool I've ever come across in Music exam prep.

I believe it's vital for teachers seeking a better work/life balance. Its features have saved several hours that I otherwise would have spent searching for a variety of listening examples for each element. I can set homework listening tasks that are purposeful and hold students accountable, followed up with data analysis detailing each student’s strengths and weaknesses. I have never seen a cohort more secure on their elements in the first quarter of Year 10 than our current GCSE students.
Daniel

It is a remendous help to have dictation practice tasks ready and with audio, particularly useful for non piano playing teachers.
Grace

I had a parent contact me the other day to say that they (as a musician) think this is such a great resource and how grateful they are that their daughter can use it to prep for her GCSE!

One of the great things about using Elemental is the amount of data available to support instruction. We have always tracked how pupils were performing across the year in our various practice exams in class (both formal and informal), but with Elemental we have much more to help us target our teaching. Throughout the year I am able to see how long each pupil spends on Elemental, see their success rate, and then see how the amount of time spent on Elemental directly affects paper results. I set homework for all pupils using the Homework Scheduling tool, but I can also say specifically to each student what they need to focus on to raise their marks. Notational has been a huge benefit for my A Level teaching. I teach the aural portion of the course and in the past have utilised some of my previous university aural materials alongside practice papers. Notational’s classwork is broken up into 5 different levels and the types of questions are consistent across the sets, which means my Notational breaks down the skills into 6 questions that build to completing a full dictation task similar to what will be on the paper. My students have benefitted from the sheer number of practice tasks that we complete across the term and I’ve been able to see their specific areas of weakness so I can provide them with extra practice.

We've just come through mock exams and loads of the students said how useful they found the platform.
Celia

It's brilliant and the students at KS4 are really seeing a lot of value in it.
Sam

Musical extracts embedded brilliantly. Clear presentation. Easy to log on and for kids to use. Clear knowledge of exam board, result of forensic research into past papers and types of questions. Brilliant resource, can't wait to roll it out more widely.

Thanks so much - what a great resource!
Ollie

My son now recognises and understands the elements so much better than before he used the platform. It has given him confidence that he can prepare independently for his coming exams.
Sacha

The app is absolutely great, so many positive features for the students, and my Year 10s are really positive about it.
Paul

The kids have really got behind it.

I’m just marking the mocks and there is a distinct difference between the papers of those that have clocked up the hours on Elemental and those that didn’t! It’s almost a direct correlation!
Ollie

A really difficult part of planning lessons as a music teacher, that other subjects might not need, is finding audio clips and Elemental has reduced my workload immensely with its library of audio examples in one easy to use place.

Elemental has provided us with a platform where students can tailor their listening needs specifically to exam board requirements. The listening examples are endless and student voice has been very positive!
