How does Elemental work?

Elemental rests on the idea that conceptual understanding needs examples as much as it needs explanations

Examples
Elemental provides a bank of examples that clearly demonstrate the sound of the chosen concept, from staccato articulation to 5/4 metre or modal tonality.
Non-Examples
Alongside these examples Elemental provides non-examples that challenge the ear. The non-examples for a French Horn are, for instance, the trombone or trumpet, not the xylophone or harp.
Explanations
Elemental supplements the musical examples with short explanations and representative pictures to further support learning.
Homework
Learning can be consolidated through well-spaced practice using our homework tools, which allow teachers to set, mark and verify musical homework in under 60 seconds per year group.
